As we danced, Mambo Andreli became possessed by the lwa Erzulie Dantor.



Hounsi Levoyis kissed the ground as he carefully presented Erzulie Dantor with a knife - one of her ceremonial attributes.



Erzulie Dantor cut off the tip of one ear of each of the pigs, signifying her acceptance of the sacrifice.



Erzulie Dantor sucked the blood from each cut-off piece of pig ear.



Erzulie Dantor then embraced Mambo Racine, kissed Mambo Racine three times on the lips, and whispered secret magical knowledge to confer greater power upon the Mambo and the Roots Without End Society.



At last the pigs were slaughtered, as quickly and mercifully as possible.
