Lave Tet 2008
With Mambo Racine Sans Bout
and the Roots Without End Society

The Roots Without End Society is proud to announce a Lave Tet ceremony to be held in western Massachusetts July 25-27, 2008. I am very happy to announce that this lave tet service will be held in the Northampton, Massachusetts area - it's a beautiful setting in the foothills of the Berkshires, and it has long been a progressive, spiritually aware community

A lave tet ceremony is a cleansing, invigorating purification and consecration of the head using traditional herbs and other substances. It clarifies consciousness, increases the ability to dream lucid or prophetic dreams, promotes healing, facilitates communication with the lwa, removes evil magic and "curses", improves finances and domestic life, and harmonizes the energy the person brings into daily activities. It is not a trivial service, but a deeply sacred one.

If you would like to know more about this ceremony, you can view the following web pages, which document past Lave Tet ceremonies performed by Mambo Racine and members of the Roots Without End Society.

The Lave Tet ceremony is frequently accompanied by the garde, a protective magical device. This ceremony is accomplished by making small cuts in the skin of the upper arm and rubbing in magical herbs, provided by our medsen fey, or herbalist, Loulou Prince and empowered by the lwa! This ceremony protects the recipient against malevolent magic and against physical harm, accidents and attacks.

You can receive the Lave Tet ceremony with or without the garde. No matter what you choose, you should come with one set of all-white clothes, one set of old clothes, and one clean white sheet. We will provide you with everything else you need - a reading to determine your ruling lwa, the drummers, and everything else required. Other Roots Without End initiates will be present and all of us, together, will invoke the cleansing energy and the love which will empower your Lave Tet.

The cost of the Lave Tet ceremony is $450, and the Lave Tet and garde together is $500. You can register and pay for the ceremonies using the PayPal buttons below. If you can not or do not wish to use PayPal, email me, Mambo Racine Sans Bout.

You will also receive a packet including written information and a cassette tape with two songs we will be using in the ceremony, so that you can learn them if you wish. The cassette is accompanied by written Creole lyrics and English translations. I hope to see you participate in this life-affirming, empowering Vodou ceremony this July!
