Herbal Power: Caribbean Herbal Healing
and Magic!

A Workshop with Loulou Prince

Loulou Prince loves to bridge the gap betewen Haitian and international Vodouisants.

You are invited to an herbal workshop in a tropical haven of peace and tranquility! Here you will learn to use herbs to heal, promote good health, attain your objectives, and do positive magic.

Master herbalist Jean-Louis "Loulou" Prince, a traditional practitioner of herbal medicine and magic, will offer his knowledge in a four-day workshop open to the public; July 10-16, 2012, in beautiful, peaceful Jacmel, Haiti. It is scheduled to run concurrently with the July 2012 Kanzo of the Roots Without End Society, and is offered at a reduced cost to kanzo participants - after all, you only have to pay your hotel room once, not twice! We try to make this event and the Erzulie Dantor and Petro Magic Workshop offered by Mambo Andreli as affordable as possible.

Loulou Prince administers a sacred ben fey, or leaf bath, to a young man preparing for Vodou initiation. Loulou Prince has been a medsen fey, or herbalist, since young adulthood. He combines his herbal knowledge with his spiritual practice and careful observance of his dreams to care for his friends, family, and community. He will teach you how to become a medsen fey too!

Click here to order Sacred Hoop back issue 40, which contains the article featuring Loulou Prince. Loulou Prince has been featured in international publications such as "Sacred Hoop", and receives clients from all over the world at the Roots Without End Society peristyle in Jacmel. During the upcoming workshop you are provided with translation and explanation at all times, and information will be offered that is available so easily nowhere else, especially to international seekers.

Participants will learn a wide variety of skills through hands-on training with Loulou Prince. You will learn to gather herbs in a sacred manner, and use them to compose cleansing and healing baths. You will make tonic drinks, strengthening and purifying teas, massage oils, and other useful products for yourself, other people, and even your animal friends.

You will learn to perform traditional Makaya magic using herbs and plant materials. You will participate in service for the powerful lwa Grand Bwa and Ti-Jean Petro among many others; and you will be taught the principles that enable you to work safely and effectively.

Loulou Prince visits the seacoast to work with the lwa La Sirene. Dream work and reverence for the spirits of the ancestors will help you to incorporate a spiritual dimension into your work with herbs. And you will visit our favorite Caribbean beach to make offerings to the Vodou lwa La Sirene, Queen of Dreams, Mother of All.

You will participate in nighttime Vodou dances, both Rada and Petro. And you will receive the Vodou ceremony of the ben fey! This Petro ceremony provides a sacred herbal bath that will fortify, bless, and magically empower you.

Loulou Prince prepares a fiery herbal mixture as part of a Petro leaf bath. These and many other activities are part of this one-week workshop to be held in Jacmel, a lovely, peaceful country town with 19th century French colonial architecture and a lively nightlife! Jacmel is one of Haiti's centers of cultural activity. You will be met at the Port-au-Prince airport and to Jacmel - a scenic, exciting trip beside blue Caribbean seas and over green mountains.

You will be housed in the delightful Rendez-Vous Guest House or the Hotel Christophe, both located just a few minutes' drive from some of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean. Meals at the Rendez-Vous are delicious, clean, family-style, and offer a choice of American, French, and Haitian Creole specialties. The lambi, or conch, is legendary, the prime rib likewise, and the Creole chicken is just out of this world. The Rendez-Vous is run by the redoubtable Madame Jules, whose career in the French diplomatic corps is evident in the quality and cleanliness of the food she serves. No fear of stomach upsets here!

The knowledge and skills you gain in this seminar will help you to work more effectively with the plants and the spiritual energies of your home region and your own spiritual tradition.

Loulou Prince enters a peristyle, bearing sacred leaves. If you are a participant in the 2012 Kanzo the fee for this four day seminar is $750. If you are not a kanzo participant, the fee is $1750, which includes your transportation from Port-au-Prince to Jacmel and back (usually a delightful small-plane ride), your hotel room (double occupancy unless otherwise arranged), three delicious meals a day, an outing to our favorite Caribbean beach, all materials and all of the activites of the workshop.
